Cafergot (ergotamine and caffeine) is a medicine used for the treatment and prevention of migraine headaches. It works by preventing excessive expansion of blood vessels in the head. Unless otherwise prescribed by your health care provider you need to take two tablets of Cafergot when you notice the first signs of migraine headache. Then it’s recommended to lie down for a couple of hours in a quiet room where you will not be bothered to make sure your headache goes away.
